GUEST ARTICLE – PLAYER RATINGS: LIVERPOOL 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY
Written by Misheals

Mo Salah!
Mo Salah!
Running down the wings!
Salah lah lah
The most unstoppable team in the world met the most immovable team and this time, they were stopped in their tracks. Here are player ratings from the encounter.
Alisson – 10
At his very best, spreading ease all over the pitch as the Liverpool defense battled away the most potent team in the land… What an assist to win the game. Gets the extra point for that.
Milner – 8
Consumate professional. Stuck to his task and excelled at it.
Gomez – 8
Alongside his centre back partner thwarted Haaland (you’d not hear that often all season).
Van Dijk – 9
The leader without the armband. That headed clearance when Haaland was lurking is why he’s highly rated all over the world

Robertson – 8
True Scottish warrior, won his battles and had an absolutely amazing game in defence.
Fabinho – 8
What a display against the relentless midfield of City. Took one for the team second half and was given a breather as the game wore on.
Thiago – 8
Played the entire 90+ minutes as well as we know he can do. Trustworthy with the ball and spread it around nice and crisp. He was also defensively astute in that midfield.
Elliott – 7
In his 70+ minutes on the pitch, he showed maturity beyond his years with a very disciplined performance. A real testament to why he’s well rated in the Liverpool ranks.
Firmino – 7
Pressed hard, ran himself to the ground like Bobby will always do. He wasn’t able to get on the score sheet like he’s been doing the last 4 games, but you can almost never fault his application.
Jota – 8
Was unfortunately lost to a freakish injury right at the end, and here’s hoping he’s okay and it’s not as bad as it seemed. While he was on the pitch though, he was involved in everything positive for the side.
Salah – 10

There’s only so long you can try to smother the Egyptian king, because if anyone can pull a rabbit out of a hat like a magician, then Mohammed Salah is one of very few. He delicately spun his man and when he went one on one with Ederson again, there was a better chance of finding a snowball in hell, than of Salah not finding the back of the net.
Substitutes
Henderson – 6
Came on for Fabinho and masterfully worked in the midfield to ensure City didn’t get into it.
Carvalho – 6
Some nifty feet to keep things ticking over on the right of midfield. Stuck to his task as well to provide defensive support to the backline.
Darwin – 6
Perfect outlet for those long clearances. Showed strength to ride some challenges and was a menace for Akanji. He could have put one on the plate for Salah, but with his growing confidence he took it on, a trait not strange in strikers, but he’ll learn on the job.
Alexander-Arnold – 6
Was introduced in place of Salah just to shore the right side up. He almost got a goal when Nunez squared it in the 6 yard box.
Tsimikas – N/A
On for the injured Jota.
Write off Liverpool at your own perilous peril. A Liverpool team with the full might of the Anfield crowd behind it can upset any team. Keep that always in mind.
