PLAYER RATINGS: LIVERPOOL 9-0 BOURNEMOUTH

PLAYER RATINGS: LIVERPOOL 9-0 BOURNEMOUTH

Liverpool absolutely roared back to form with a complete and utter demolition of Bournemouth today. Luis Diaz begun the scoring and ended it with two bullet headers. There were lots of lovely goals in between. Here are the player ratings.

Alisson – 7

Didn’t have much to do today, two routine saves and that was about it. A welcome clean sheet.

Alexander-Arnold – 10

Back to his absolute best today. Scored a scorcher from range reminiscent of his idol Steven Gerrard. Whipped some delightful crosses in, with Robbo spurning one and Mepham turning another into his own net. Played a raking pass to Tsimikas for Carvalho’s goal. A joy to watch today.

Gomez – 8

This run of games will do him the world of good. He was excellent today, marshalled Moore well and was neat and tidy in possession.

Van Dijk – 8

Bullet header on the stroke of halftime. Wasn’t troubled much at the back, winning his duels and headers against Moore when he had to.

Robertson – 7.5

First half was a bit of the off colour Robbo we’ve seen this season. He was getting into good positions but his final ball/decision was letting him down. That’s till he swung a corner for Virgil to power home on the stroke of halftime. He was much improved second half and bombed on well.

Fabinho – 9

Another who was back to his best today. Shielded the back four well and crucially showed an incisiveness with his passing going forward.

Elliott – 9

Well worth his goal, which he took beautifully, whipping it past the despairing dive of Travers. He’s started this campaign in a similar vein to the last one. Showed some lovely touches and set Salah up for a tap in at the backpost with a well disguised cross.

Henderson 8

Did a job on the left. Battled well and used the ball better today. Made some good runs into the box. Much improved.

Salah – 7

Spurned a number of openings. Brought down Fabinho’s long ball with a delicate touch before lifting the finish over the goal. It was that kind of day, and I think he knew it as well. Should have used his right for Harvey’s setup. Saw Travers tip one shot over.

Firmino 10

A brace of goals and a hat trick of assists. Perfection. Lovely cross for the all important opener. Then scored two poacher’s goals by being in the right place at the right time. First he capitalised on miscommunication at the back to poke home before pouncing on Robbo’s delivery later on.

Diaz – 9.5

Started it off with a leaping header after just three minutes. Was drifting infield a lot more today. Smith couldn’t live with him. Moved to the striking role after Bobby went off and responded with another header, this time from Tsimikas’ corner.

Substitutes

Tsimikas – 8

Two assists in his brief cameo. What more could you ask for? He made a run in behind the defence and touched Trent’s diagonal to Carvalho for the first, before swinging in a pinpoint delivery for Diaz for his second assist.

Milner – 7

Slotted in at right back and was solid. Almost caught the keeper out at his near post with a disguised cross cum shot.

Carvalho – 7.5

Played on the right of midfield and looked a bit blunted as he was unable to cut inside. Switched to the left and looked much better. He’s been threatening to score a volley in his previous cameos and managed it today. Sweet strike. Could have won a penalty. One lovely dummy and a sprinkling of no look passes.

Bajcetic – 7

Looked up for the battle in the middle of the park. Not shy to get on the ball and play.

Clark – N/A

Did bits on the left wing.

Jürgen Klopp

He was in no mood to relent today. Even at 6-0, he was prowling on his touchline barking orders. Exactly what was required today. A huge win to lift morale. On to Newcastle.

  1. Much better!

I knew we were winning today but I didn’t think it would be this much, the whole team was sharp and direct.
Lovely to see Elliot and Carvalho get their first goals of the season, Salah was unlucky today. Where has this Firmino been.

All round, a needed performance. We had to make a statement
