PLAYER RATINGS: LIVERPOOL 0-3 STRASBOURG

Liverpool lost their final pre-season friendly of the summer to Strasbourg at Anfield this evening. A brace by Thomasson and a Diallo strike first half saw the French side cruise to victory. Here are player ratings from the match.
Davies
Not much he could do about the goals, all well taken. Didn’t command his box well enough though and was involved in a mix up with Phillips second half.
Mabaya
Asleep for the first goal as he was caught ball watching. Had the pace to get in behind their defence on the overlap but his final ball was a letdown.
Konaté
Can look clumsy at times. Picked up a knee injury after clumsily running into his man on the halfway line. Hope he’s fine.
Gomez
Hard to play CB in a team full of kids. Their mistakes lead to goals and as the senior CB, questions are asked of you. Played well at right back though. Showed good feet and pace. Blazed one shot into the stands in injury time.
Chambers
Hopelessly out of his depth tonight. At fault for one of the goals after a blind backpass. Kept going though and got a shot on target second half.
Bajcetic
Almost scored from a free kick but the keeper did well to tip it over the bar. Couldn’t assert himself on the game much but kept plugging away.
Morton
Lacked that bit of acceleration, awareness and composure required as the ‘8’, with Strasbourg pressing fiercely. Did better in the ‘6’ later in the second half.

Milner
Was everywhere first 20 trying to knit everything together and get the kids playing. Faded quickly and wasn’t much of an influence till he popped up with a run into the box and a shot on goal late on, well saved by the keeper.
Elliott
Quiet first half but everything went through him in the second period. He needs to be better with his end product though, especially when playing in attack. Blazed one over after a terrific run cutting in off the right. Found Milner with a cute pass in behind. Showed tremendous energy in pressing and fighting for every ball.
Carvalho
Showed some lovely touches. Had the thankless task of leading the line. Didn’t get much support. Dropped deep to combine with Elliott. Should have done better with two half chances he snatched at.
Frauendorf
Not great on the ball but was a willing worker. Made several runs in behind from the left wing. Thought he’d scored when after one such run, he finished past the keeper in the second half. There’s something to work with, hopefully he can develop further in the coming years.
Subs at HT
Phillips
Broke someone’s face attacking Morton’s cross late on.
Subs on 56′
Clark
He looked tidy in midfield. One shift sent his marker sprawling and he followed it up with a fierce effort that the keeper had to push away.
Van den Berg
On for the injured Konaté in the second half. Slotted in at left centre back.
Subs on 76′
Musialowski
Came on for the final 15 and showed everyone what he was about with his very first involvement. He breezed past two players like they weren’t even there. Not as involved after that as every attack came down Harvey’s side.
