PLAYER RATINGS: LIVERPOOL 2-0 CRYSTAL PALACE

Liverpool took on Crystal Palace in Singapore as the Reds stepped up their pre-season preparations. Goals in either half by Henderson and Salah saw a comfortable victory. Here are player ratings from the match.
Adrian
Made a good save from a header early on. Showed good handling. Wasn’t troubled much.
Milner
The veteran was heavily involved playing in the right back position. It was his diagonal switch that led to the opening goal. He put in a few thunderous tackles as per. Combined well with Elliott.
Matip
Comfortable throughout. Won his headers and challenges with minimum fuss. Showed his passing ability on occasion.
Konaté
Involved in a physical battle with Mateta. Won most of them. One or two diagonals didn’t find it’s intended target.
Tsimikas
Involved in a running battle with Jordan Ayew. Gave as good as he got as the two of them kicked lumps out of each other. Offered an outlet down the left wing and was halted by ex-Red Nathaniel Clyne a few times.
Henderson

Sat at the base of midfield and dictated proceedings. Kept the ball ticking over and took his goal well. He whipped his shot past Guiata after Elliott’s cutback.
Elliott
Once again impressive. Some wonderful touches and pieces of skill. Set up the goal and should have scored one of his own but blazed wide on his weaker foot.
Jones
Involved. Once or twice he could have done better when in good positions. Absolutely clattered late in the half.
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Combined really well with Elliott and interchanged with him often. Set the youngster up for a big chance with a scooped pass. Shot straight at the keeper when he got in behind. Went off injured. A worrying sight.
Firmino
Worked so hard off the ball to nick it back. Slipped Ox through for his chance. Also lost the ball a few times with his touch not at its sharpest.
Diaz
Looked sharp but didn’t really get to do damage in the areas of the pitch he likes.
Subs on 42′
Clarkson
Came on for the injured Ox to see out the half.

Subs at HT
Davies
Comfortable. Good distribution.
Alexander-Arnold
Played very advanced in the opening half hour. Provided an assist for Salah and stung Guiata’s gloves with a shot from range. Looked quicker than usual and linked up with Mo brilliantly.
Van den Berg
Played well. Did well to halt Edouard in one foot race. Passed the ball around comfortably as well. Not a bad outing for the youngster.
Van Dijk
Headed a Trent corner straight at Guaita. Flicked a cross clear that fell to Ayew at the backpost.
Robertson
Great block on Ayew’s shot at the backpost. A bit low key, didn’t bomb on as much.
Fabinho
Dominated the centre of the pitch and played some lovely interplays with Thiago and Keita.
Keita
Pressed hard from the right of midfield and won the ball back loads. Looked sharp.
Thiago
Contributed greatly to the extra level of control the Reds had second half. Kept the ball a bit too long at times though.
Salah
Immediately stepped up the level of threat with his pace in behind. Set Nunez up for a chance or two and scored after cutting in off the right. Tired late on and uncharacteristically overhit a simple layoff to Mabaya. Captained the youngsters.
Nunez
Went close twice but Guaita was equal to it. Always sought to run in behind. A bit overeager to impress at times, as seen when he clattered into Andersen whilst closing him down. The goals will come. Needs to relax and enjoy his football.
Carvalho
Went close as well when he cut in off the left and curled one towards the bottom corner. Guaita once again did well to tip it behind. Fabio was too easily pushed off the ball at times, with Palace employing physical tactics.

Subs on 76′
Mozrek
Came out quickly to gather a loose ball with two Palace players looking to pounce.
Mabaya
Looked confident.
Phillips
Pinged some nice passes.
R. Williams
Did okay.
Chambers
Had a pop.
Bajcetic
Mucked in.
Morton
Should have done better late on when he sent a shot whistling past the post with his weaker foot.
Clark
Couldn’t get in the game.
Norris
Played on the left wing.
Up and up we go.
I think we were more fluid and looked sharp.
Nunez should quit the need to impress, the club is aware of his potential, and that’s why they sighed him

We should see a more cohesive unit once the lads get a full week of training at the AXA Training Centre under their belts.
